A Safe Deposit Box is intended to offer our members secure storage for their valuables. Safe Deposit Boxes are fireproof metal boxes located in the credit union vault. Boxes must be accessed under dual control, meaning the owner of the box and an employee of the credit union must be present to retrieve the box.
The boxes are opened under the primary member's account number. Additional people may be added to the box ownership, but these individuals do not automatically have access to other accounts on the membership.
Annual rent is debited from member's account each year. There is a $25 key deposit for two keys, refundable when both keys are returned when box is surrendered. There is an additional $25 fee if box key(s) are not returned when box is surrendered.
Safe Deposit Boxes are NOT covered by NCUA Share Insurance Fund, since the contents are private and a value cannot be determined by the credit union. However, members may purchase insurance coverage as part of a homeowner's policy or a safe deposit box insurance policy from any outside insurance company.
